It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Houchins, aged 80, from Spiceland, on the morning of Saturday at Hancock Regional Health. Born on August 11, 1943, in Indianapolis, she was the cherished daughter of Dale and the late Edna (Flannigan) Ellis.
Nancy, a proud 1962 alumnus of Lewisville High School, married her sweetheart, Eddie Houchins, in the same year. Their loving marriage was blessed with four children. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Nancy was celebrated for her exceptional culinary skills, particularly her famous pumpkin pies, and for always ensuring her family was well-fed and cared for.
#keyword# family fondly remembers her as caring, hardworking, selfless, and graceful, with a constant commitment to putting 'family first'. #keyword# took immense joy in babysitting not only her grandchildren and great-grandchildren but also those of family friends for many years. Her professional life included a stint as a bus driver for South Henry School Corp. and a role at Hilltop Florist in Knightstown. She was a dedicated member of the First Christian Church in Knightstown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Edna (Flannigan) Ellis, stepmother Oshie Ellis, and two stepbrothers, Bruce and John Trieschman.
A service to celebrate #keyword#'s life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel, officiated by Pastor Anthony Darling. Interment will follow in the Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the funeral home.
